Melinda Jane Messenger was born February 23, 1971,
in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. Her parents Terry and
Avis got divorced when Melinda -- the middle child between
two brothers, Jamie and Warren -- was five years old.
Before becoming a model and pinup, Melinda spent 6
months working as a flight attendant for Britannia Airlines,
followed by a job as an office manager. Not content
with the usual 9 to 5 routine of administrative work,
Melinda opted for the more exciting life of a model.
After giving her physical appearance an ample "boost,"
the bra and underwear clad Melinda modeled for an ad
campaign for a local double-glazing firm, Glevum Windows.
The posters caused quite a stir, as young teenage boys
would remove the posters with the slogan "Class
Behind Glass" hanging in bus shelters to keep for
themselves, and the Advertising Standards Authority
banned the campaign, claiming they were not as "classy"
as they claimed to be.
The poster story became a hit in Britain and the local
dailies caught wind of the newest model. The Daily Star
ran the story of the disappearing posters, along with
a picture of Melinda in the paper, under the headline,
"Move Over Eva Herzigova".
Ever since the story ran in the Star, Melinda's career
took off. That same period, the Sun also came calling
and featured Melinda on the front page, which is when
the relationship between the British tabloid and the
model started.
Signed with modeling agent Yvonne Paul, the topless
model began to pose for Vivienne Westwood. Before becoming
the "Face of Channel 5," Melinda worked for
the Sun, which entailed visiting the Spanish costas,
as well as visits to English seaside resorts (an assignment
otherwise known as "Mel's Big Bus Tour").
Melinda then ventured into the world of television,
with her stint as a regular guest host on The Jack Docherty
Show in 1997, and an appearance as herself in Shooting
Stars. She then starred in 1998's Melinda Messenger
Hits Hollywood. She also became the presenter for the
UK's version of the television series, Fort Boyard.
Her guest hosting job for The Jack Docherty Show led
to Melinda's moving up the television chain to hosting
her own show, Melinda's Big Night In and as co-host
for Beat the Crusher. 1998 was a good year for Melinda,
as she was also cast in the title role in the pantomime,
Cinderella and she was featured in a brochure of the
English Tourist Board.
In 1999, Melinda appeared as herself in the "Millennium"
episode of Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, appeared in Armstrong
and Miller, and starred as herself in Can We Still Be
Friends?. She also starred as the Superbra Girl in the
film, Virtual Sexuality.
A practicing Buddhist, Melinda is currently married
to her long-time boyfriend Wayne Roberts, and together
they welcomed the birth of their son Morgan in 2000,
after 2 years of marriage.
Melinda was last seen in the comedy, Mumbo Jumbo, and
continues to model.
