Name: Eve Salvail
Date of birth: 1973
Place of birth: Quebec, Canada
Occupation: Model, Actress
Canadian model Eve Salvail is a striking combination
of offbeat elements. Her androgynous image and extremely
personal style projects the viewers' imagination into
a high-tech world we have yet to visit. She has now
gone multimedia. Connect and be transported to Dimension
Eve.
Eve has changed. Or so I think when I run into her
after some two years. She is laughing while showing
her model's book to some friends. There's something
radiant about this "new" Eve. Taking a look
at a few of the photographs I see the same offbeat Eve
we're accustomed to. Yet here, live, she seems happier
and, in some odd way, more settled down. Is this the
end of the "what-do-I-care" Eve?
This contrast sparks my curiosity. After all, aren't
we talking about the same Eve who carries a tattooed
dragon in her blond shorthaired head? The same one who
appeared nude in the last catwalk scene of the movie
"Pret-a-Porter" and has played futuristically
androgynous new millenium characters in photographs,
the catwalk and the cinema? We agree to have a talk
later.
Born in a very small village on the eastern part of
Canada, French is Eve's first language, although our
conversation, as always, is in English. She remembers
having lived there until approximately nineteen years
old. Some time after, while in Tokyo, she decided to
shave her head and tattoo it. This led to her discovery
by French designer/enfant terrible Jean Paul Gaultier.
And, as she says, "that's how I became a model,
or whoever I am. Whatever you want to classify me as."
