Known as: Cat Deeley
Full Name : Catherine Deeley
Date of birth : October 23rd 1976
Place of birth : Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
Occupation: TV Hostess, Actress
Catherine Deeley is the model who is at the top of
her world. She presents a variety of MTV programmes
and also co-presents ITV's Saturday morning lineup.
But a few years ago, in 1997 she was unknown as a media
figure. Her passage into the media spotlight couldn't
be more perfect. At a mere 14 years of age, the idea
of becoming a sexy model couldn't be further from Cats
mind. By her own admission she wasn't the best looking
around, what with her bushy eyebrows and 'bad perm'.
That was, until she entered a regional BBC The Clothes
Show competition. Despite her limited modelling experience,
Cats good looks ensured a passage on through to the
final stages. Despite not winning the compo, the event
would yield a prize far greater than could be imagined.
Cat was spotted at the show by Storm modelling agency
and Cat was signed up on a contract. Storm tried persuading
Cat to leave school and pursure a complete modelling
career, but Cat chose to continue her education up to
A level standard. She walked away from academia with
a staggering 9 GCSE grade A, and four A-Level passes!
Only then did she become truly committed to modelling.
Cat has since travelled all over the world due to her
modelling commitments including picturesque places such
as Venice, Athens and Tokyo. After a few years of modelling
Cat took another chance that payed off big time. Wanting
to find an outlet for her natural ability to entertain
Cat sent a VHS cassette application of herself performing
as a VJ to MTV <http://www.mtveurope.com> in the
hope that the producers may be interested in her talents.
She says it was a impulse decision to make the tape
but it seemed like a good idea. MTV producers saw the
tape and sure enough picked up on her vibrant personality
and Cat invited to attend an interview. Months of auditions
followed (Cat had never had a job like this before!)
and soon enough she was hired for MTV. The rest as they
say is history. Not content with hosting two top MTV
programs as well as being launched into the top ten
sexiest women of 1998 and 1999, Cat continues her ascendancy
in the media business by landing a top job as a presenter
for Saturday morning television programmes, aimed at
children. ITV obviously agree that Cat is the ideal
person to claw back the large slice of Saturday television
that they have lost to BBC over the past few years Most
surprising of all is Cat's young age. At 23, Cat has
time on her side. It seems 2000 will be the year of
the Cat.
